6 Tips for Looking Your Best on the Go

23rd Aug 2017

Whether you’re traveling across the country, taking a road trip for the weekend with your girlfriends, or simply have a long commute for work, there’s no reason why you can’t show up looking your best. The following tips will help your hair and skin stay in the best shape possible, regardless of your travel plans.

1. Go Makeup Free

Don’t worry! You’ll thank yourself when you get there. Traveling on a plane or driving for several hours, is a great opportunity to refresh your skin and go makeup-free. Before the journey, apply our Rhassoul Clay Mask or Charcoal Mask to detox and clean your face. Then follow up with our Rice Bran Moisturizer to moisturize while wicking dirt from the skin. When traveling, particularly by airplane, it’s important to keep your skin as hydrated as possible because the air at such high altitudes can be very drying. Going makeup free is also a great way to save time before you hit the road or catch an early morning flight. Skip your typical routine and opt for the natural look instead!

2. Hydrate!

To keep your skin healthy you’ll want to hydrate from the inside out, too. You’d be surprised just how much more water you need when traveling to avoid dry flakey skin as well as to feel more energized once you arrive at your destination. Be sure to drink plenty of water and even bring an empty water bottle to fill up in the terminal before your flight takes off.

3. Avoid Puffy Eyes

Cat naps, allergens in the air, and the undesirable effects of indoor heating/air conditioning, can leave eyes looking watery and puffy. For immediate relief, ask the flight attendant for an ice cube and a napkin or wash cloth to place under your eyes for a few minutes. Once you get to your hotel room or destination, apply our anti-aging/moisturizing face serum to help reduce puffiness and add a fresh, dewy look to your skin.

4. Fix Flat Hair

No one ever said traveling was good for the hair, which is why you’ll want to be diligent about protecting your locks prior to travel. The night before you leave, be proactive about the over-drying effects of high altitudes and opt for a Hot Oil Treatment to add extra moisture and shine. In the morning, to save time and avoid blow-drying, use our Dry Shampoo and then finish off with Emu Hair Balm to manage hair while controlling frizz and reducing split ends.

5. Sandwich Bags are Your Best Friend

Ziploc bags are the ultimate travel companion. From hair accessories and safety pins to cotton pads and Q-tips, when you use these perfect clear bags, you’ll have everything neatly organized and at your fingertips. They also double as the perfect solution to protect your gym bag or luggage from spill-prone liquids such as perfumes, lotions, and shampoos. To be extra safe, put a piece of scotch tape around the seal of each liquid product before you put them in the Ziploc. Throw in a few extra Ziplocs for your return trip, just in case.

6. Pack Multitasking Products

Being as minimalist as possible is always a good idea when traveling. Even with Ziplocs keeping you organized, the last thing you want is a plethora of products weighing you down and over-crowding your luggage. To keep things simple, pack multi-purpose products like our Lip Tint. Use it on your lips and cheeks to add a pop of color. And our Super Vitamin E lotion can be used on both body and face if you’re in a pinch for space but still want to stay moisturized.

While beauty and travel aren’t mutually exclusive, these tips will help you look your best while keeping you stress free - wherever the journey takes you!
