If you’re suffering from dry, flakey skin or oil and acne, it can seem as though flawless skin is too much to ask for with no hope in sight. While you’re surely aware of the basic cleanser, toner, moisturizer technique – great skin is not a one-size-fits all deal. Lifestyles, eating and sleep habits, and so much more can contribute to the health of your skin. The following are a few skin care tips for enhancing your natural beauty and keeping blemishes at bay.
1. The Golden Rule
While beauty trends come and go, one tried and true tip will remain until the end of time: always remove your makeup before going to bed. That’s worth repeating. Always, always, always remove your makeup before calling it a day. Your skin needs to breathe overnight and it can’t do that if you haven’t washed your face. Leaving makeup on overnight clogs the pores, which can lead to unsightly blackheads and blemishes. No matter how hard you partied or how long your day was at work, don’t forget to end the day with a clean face. Try our Avocado Cleansing Oil or Gentle Castile Wash to gently remove dirt and excess oil for a fresh clean.
2. A Golden Glow
If you’re looking for that perfect sun-kissed glow, shying away from sunblock
is no way to go. A lifetime
of sun exposure can lead to age spots, wrinkles, or worse. Add your favorite
sunscreen to one of our
moisturizers such as Beauty Cream or
our Whipped Rice Bran Lotion for a sweet-smelling, multi-
tasking face lotion.
3. You Are What You Eat
This sounds like a cute phrase that your grandmother may have told you a couple times, but there is plenty of truth to this statement. A diet rich in vitamins and low in fats, sugars and processed foods helps to promote glowing, radiant skin. A low-sugar diet keeps insulin levels down, which allows cells to stay balanced. Those with particularly sensitive skin may notice their skin flairs up after eating certain foods. Make note of it, especially if you have an important occasion coming up where you want to look your best. In general, fresh fruit and greens is what healthy skin requires.
4. Hit the Gym
Regular exercise is a great way to get your
blood circulating to accelerate the cleansing process
throughout your entire body. A great workout
will help you sweat out impurities and give you that
awesome glow. Remember not to skip the
pre-workout skincare and apply a toner to minimize oil
production. After the workout, exfoliate with
our Microdermabrasion Face Wash and then
apply Emu Oil
or Rice Bran Moisturizer to help
moisturize the skin.
5. Avoid Touching Your Face
At first sign of a zit or pimple it
can be all too tempting to want to pop the little bugger! But do whatever
it takes to avoid touching your face at all costs. Instead opt for nourishing
treatments like our Zit Zapper or Dead SeaMud Mask to help lift any impurities and
remove dirt while hydrating the skin. Our Oatmeal and Yogurt
Mask softens and rejuvenates the skin.
6. Hydrate from the Inside Out
Drinking water is one of the best things you do can do for your skin. When your body gets enough water your skin will look better too. And, just the opposite can occur when you are dehydrated. Not to mention, you won’t feel as energetic either.
Taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be difficult. By implementing all of these skin treatments and tricks, you’ll look and feel your best in no time!
